I’ve personally experienced all the challenges of learning a foreign language. I realized that many courses and methods simply don’t work. For example, it’s often recommended that language learners go abroad. I lived in Portugal for three years, but despite attending courses, I didn’t learn Portuguese during my first year. Why? Because I was speaking English at work, and in my social life, I took the easy route and stuck to English. It was only when I made Portuguese a natural part of my daily life that I was finally able to speak it.
I developed the Continuous Interaction Method in Portugal while writing my master's thesis. My thesis was about why the Portuguese can learn English easily while we Turks have difficulty. My conclusion was that learning a foreign language is only possible when the language is made a natural part of life. .

Hi, I'm Professor Merve Erçin.
After graduating from the English Language Teaching Department at Istanbul University, I completed my Master's degree in Linguistics at the University of Lisbon.
My master's thesis topic may be very attractive to you in your English learning adventure. While the Portuguese speak English like their mother tongue, there is a significant English learning problem in Türkiye. In my master's thesis, I studied this disadvantage of our country. While the Portuguese were constantly interacting with English, we were learning English like a lesson in our country.
If I talk about my English teaching experience, I started as an English teacher within the Ministry of National Education, then I resigned and taught English in many international institutions in Europe and I am still a lecturer at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa.
After both my academic studies and the English training I gave, I developed my ‘Language Learning with Continuous Interaction’ method.
